Yoga practices to build resiliency and embrace the joys and challenges of the wild ride of baby-land! Movements are postpartum-specific and emphasize core strength while babies enjoy bonding with Mama through massage and song.
Live-stream MamaBe Baby classes integrate postpartum yoga practice with the instruction in practical tools and strategies to support your wellbeing – physically, energetically and emotionally. You will benefit from the focused time to bond with your baby, and to share this journey in a community of other Mamas and Babies who are navigating the very same kinds of delights and challenges as yourself.
After birth, a Mama's body has very specific needs and circumstances, and benefits from a specific postpartum program to bring a return to comfort and strength in the body through core strengthening exercises, attention to the pelvic floor, and stretches to release common areas of tension.
The MamaBe postpartum classes provide a strong foundation for women to return back to their active lives with renewed confidence, ease and strength of movement. Clearlight offers personalized support in the group classes, inviting each woman to move at a pace that honors her body, whether that means taking things extra slowly or taking on added challenge... options are always offered.
Clearlight was a pioneer in creating and developing Mom and Baby Yoga, bringing the first classes to Canada in 2000 before there was 'such a thing.' The movements contained in the MamaBe Baby classes are informed by Clearlight's intensive study in rehabilitative yoga and exercise with her physiotherapist colleagues of 15 years, and her personal menteeship in Pilates bodywork and movement. With this training and teaching experience, and her personal experience as a mother herself (of twin girls), she brings a depth of understanding to support your postpartum journey with expert guidance and advice.
The transition into becoming a Mama for the first-time, or even having more children, is unparalleled. We encounter joys and a love that can be over-the-top, and equally will typically encounter challenges that we just were not anticipating.
As mothers, we need to have a set of coping strategies and practices to support our own wellbeing and resiliency. Taking care of yourself is a key component in taking care of your baby. Providing you with such a toolset is one of Clearlight's passions, and is interwoven through each MamaBe practice.
Community is essential. We need to connect with other Mamas, and share this journey with those that truly relate and understand the realities we are living. These classes support your individual wellness at all levels.
Becoming a mother was something I had wished for literally for decades, and having my twin girls has been beyond a blessing in my life.. It is over the top... such intense love, such vulnerability, such intensity, and despite the incredible desire to be a mother, such challenges. It is a privilege to share with you the transformative teachings and solid practices that I've found indispensable, to support you in your journey... physically, energetically, emotionally, and if you are inclined, spiritually. I just wanted to say thanks for today's practice. I really appreciate you taking the time to explore with us those yoga poses that seem so obvious or easy when you’re unaware of the subtleties . I’ve done yoga for so many years (on and off), but I’ve never understood where I was supposed to feel real intensity. Some things take a really long time to sink in, and it feels really good to slowly understand the subtleties that make a seemingly easy pose quite intense. I love that the intensity is picking up, btw; I think my post-baby body was craving that :)
I wanted to let you know how much I love your MamaBe Baby classes. It has really been the most wonderful experience with my baby, and I will cherish these memories forever. I had a tough time post-partum with my first-born... I felt so insecure as a new mom, and he had severe colic. I wish I had known about your classes back then. However, even going now with my second baby has helped me so much with those feelings I had back then. It has normalized so much of what I went through... You create such a safe space to share our experiences and emotions, and I always finish your class feeling so good, so relaxed, and so happy. I am so grateful to you... I cannot thank you enough.
I was feeling really isolated until I started your online live-streaming Mama Be classes with my new baby. I haven't been sleeping and my partner is away most days... It has been difficult and I wasn't expecting that. But coming to your group has been a huge change for me. Not only am I coming back to my body again (this feels so good!), but I've also found a safe space where I can be 'me' and share with other women who are experiencing similar things. I feel understood and not alone. Also, you remind us of ways to help ourselves, to breathe, to meet expectations, and above all, to embrace our own authenticity.
Clearlight is a wonderful person and teacher. She creates a really welcoming environment and her classes are very well structured. The prenatal partner class was perfect to learn more about labour and prepare for it, and the Mama-Baby yoga is amazing to learn to live with a whole new baby. It's the best place to be when you are still just figuring things out with this tiny human.
I was so sore from class yesterday, in a good way! I am surprised because the movements we are doing feel so subtle, but I feel like I did much more than after my spinning class!! My back feels so much better... and my baby loves our song... it is the highlight of our week! Thank you!!
Clearlight’s yoga is definitely for both body and mind. I have done both pregnancy and mom-and-baby yoga with her, and they have both been so amazingly helpful. Mom and baby yoga has been amazing for the community, for understanding and strengthening my changed body, and for meeting the emotional and mental challenges and wonderfulness of motherhood.
